There’s a few different steps for casting an absentee ballot. First, you have to download an absentee ballot application or apply for it. Once you fill out your ballot application and it’s approved, you’ll receive your absentee ballot in the mail. Fill out your ballot and send it to the Board of Elections.

Please note: Your absentee ballot application must be postmarked or sent electronically by June 16, 2020 or the Board of Elections will NOT send you an absentee ballot.

step one

Get the Application

Download

Click here and fill out your absentee ballot application online. Then download or print the document. (This is the fastest and easiest way to get and fill out your absentee ballot application.)

  • When you fill out your application, check “Temporary Illness” as the reason why you’re applying for the absentee ballot.

Have It Mailed

You have two options to receive your ballot application by mail:

  • Click here to request your ballot application online.
  • Call 1-866-VOTE-NYC (1-866-868-3692) to request your ballot application over the phone

Remember: If you choose to receive your application by mail, you will receive your absentee ballot application, NOT your absentee ballot in the mail. You must fill out the ballot application and then send it back to the Board of Elections by mail, email or fax before June 16th.
