The Brooklyn Movement Center has teamed up with the Brooklyn Community Foundation to offer a grant to parent associations operating in Community School District 16 for the 2012 – 2013 school year. Up to $1,000 will be awarded to support literacy and parent engagement efforts within the district.
The criteria for the grant are as follows:
- Grantee must be a 501(c)3 organization or have a 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor.
- The grant must be used for a specific project that includes the promotion of literacy and seeks to increase the level of parent involvement and parent leadership in the PTA/school.
- Grantees are required to have at least five of their members attend a parent organizing training facilitated by the Brooklyn Movement Center.
